I know I’m a bit late for publishing this post but I had a hectic weekend! Anyway, a mass moonwalk was held in Gemmayze street, on Friday 26th of June, as a tribute to Michael Jackson. The whole thing started on Twitter and I honestly expected it to be more like a small gathering, however thanks to Blogging Beirut‘s author and other active users on Twitter it turned into an impromptu concert celebrating Michael Jacksonβs life and songs in the heart of Gemmayze facing Saint-Nicolas stairs.
I was there with my camera and got these photos to share with you.
Moonwalkers orignally wanted to do their dance in the middle of the street near Torino, and started by lighting candles…
But policemen had a problem with it since moonwalkers were blocking the traffic!
After solving things out, moonwalkers headed to Saint Nicolas stairs.
A boy who sells chiclets also participated!
Nice work Rami π
Well I see this as a bit too much. That guy had his effect but come on!
I agree with you… am a bit surprised of all this fuss
I don’t see any reason to be surprised. The man was a music genius. He had a huge fan base. And his fans wanted to pay tribute to him and celebrate his life.
Rami, I was actually there. Which one of them were you? π
@Liliane
Thanks! π
@Liliane & @Waleed
Although he was lately living in the shade, but one can’t ignore his achievements, it isn’t like Britney Spears passed π
@Posh
So you were very close to reveal my identity!!!! π
I was obviously the one with a cam in hand taking photos from right next to the stage π
Personally I would more shocked if Britney Spears died. Same happened when Heath Ledger died. I was more shocked… or perhaps I am still in denial that MJ died, as he was my favorite singer when I had a 1 digit age till my early teen years π
I am surprised it reached the streets of Beirut with such passion, however I am not disapointed as he was a rare talent of our lifetime. As Spike Lee said when someone has been gifted with such tremendous talent, it usually come with a package of negatives. Regardless of ones opinion may he RIP.
