The world cup is kicking off in less than a month and lot of people are getting those mini flags for their cars and balconies, it might seem silly but it’s cool as long as it makes people deviate a bit from the political discussions.
Still, it really is pathetic when you get a flag that is more than 1 meter in width or length! I’m pretty sure you could have put that spent money for a better use! Probably to fix your screeching brakes?
I took the first photo in Jdeideh, while I got the second via one of my Facebook friends.
Wonder if the Italian fan had to get permission from his three neighbors below…
Talk about overdone!
Hello,
I’m an author for Global Voices Online, and we’re doing some World Cup Coverage from around the world. Would it be ok if I used the photo and an excerpt from your post in an article?
Thanks,
Anas
@Anas Qtiesh
Sure, I have no problem.
@Danielle
I sure hope so. Judging by the decency of my own neighbors, and general knowledge of Lebanon & the Lebanese, I would assume he just put it up and fought with them when they complained about it.
Strange, i just bought a mini German Flag 🙂
Lebanese people enjoy life that’s why they try to seize the moment… any moment.
Were it not for this display of kitsch and imbecilic behavior, how would Lebanon otherwise be Lebanon?
he seem a good driver to take such good picture 😛
How I miss those times… the 94 USA world cup and all the flags hanging from the balconies… I wonder if people are still crazy about it as it was 16 or 20 years ago.
I live in Germany, and honestly Lebanese have overdone it AGAIN
I havent seen a single flag yet in Germany
No has even started talking about the World cup (except for the misfortunate Ballack incident)
It is obvious that Lebanese need to channel their frustration through football! The funniest thing tho is when lebanese say: This year, the cup is ours! “Ours” as in the germans, the french, the italian, the brazilians… lol
As the McDo ad says: Lebanese aquire a new nationality through out that month!
