Lady Gaga’s “Judas” banned in Lebanon?

Have you noticed that Lebanese radio stations have stopped playing Lady Gaga’s new song “Judas”? I guess I heard it a couple of time and then they suddenly stopped it.

In case you’re not aware of it yet, “Judas” seems to be one of Lady Gaga’s stunts and is already enraging religious groups in the US because of its lyrics.

She shouldn’t apologize to anyone… just like religious people attack atheists and just like they speak their mind, we all have the freedom of speech! Religion’s a lie.. get over it!

I know Radio One stopped playing it for this holy week only. They will play it again once the holidays are over.

Lord gaga, obviously by your comment atheists attack religious people as well ? maybe you’d like to mention that to keep the playing fields level. I’m not christian, and a believer of freedom of speech but there’s no need to go out and publicly insult a religion. How about everyone minds their own F*in business and we’ll all be happy ? 🙂

i’d like to point that Lady Gaga has been raised as a christian in a catholic school, and she believes in God. and if you really read the lyrics, she only means by Judas a love interest that she keeps falling for, although she knows he’s a bad person. it is only a metaphor. and her metaphor to Judas only makes sence when compared to the love of Jesus.
“Jesus is my vertue, Judas is the demon i cling to”
there is no blasphemy in it and she is attacking no one. when i read these above comments, i keep wondering why people start attacking each other when religion is the main topic.

@Rabih A. are you sure RadioOne stopped playing it for the holy week only?

Yeah I heard that too on Radio One. They will play it again starting from today. Unless religious people interfered again.
@Lord Gaga Religion is a lie for you, but not for everybody.

@Karim: I would like to believe that, but when she has a video clip where she’s dressed like a nun and doing outrageous things and playing with the cross and rosary, i dont think she is that much of a christian…

Anyways we are not asking her to be one, but everybody knows exactly who controls hollywood, and we as Lebanese know precisely how much the jews are cruel…

Conclusion, I dont mind listening to songs saying there is no god, but listening to “Judas” is whole new concept of blaspehmy.
This song is an insult to the Christian Religion and should be banned at least in Lebanon, where we are still proud of the values present in our community.

    Ecil? Blasphemous? Satanic?

You do realize that according to the biblical story, if there were no Judas there would have been no betrayal and no ascension? You do realize that the whole point of the song is to continue the “There can be no good without evil” mantra that she started in Born This Way? To consider Judas as the devil is frankly un-christian. Judas represents humanity as a whole… we’re all imperfect and always prone to temptation. We often do, although we hold good (Jesus and otherwise) as the virtue.

I am continually amazed of people that treat religion as something that cannot be
touched. Whether God exists is not something that I will ever be able to prove or disprove. In fact, I consider myself a believer in a sense. Religion on the other is just as man-made as the clothes you wear and the language you speak. To treat it as an untouchable, infallible thing is just pretentious and quite frankly, stupid.
I’ll keep it simple for simple minds.
If I were to judge you on your religious merits, I’d say all of Lebanon would go to hell. Maybe because everyone gossips so much and it’s a cardinal sin. Also all women would be considered whores since they dress so openly. How do you like that for literal Biblical interpretation?

Anyway, Lady GaGa uses religious imagery to portray the relationship she had with a bad ex-lover of hers. It’s quite literally a biblical interpretation of her previous song Bad Romance although this time she’s regretting it rather than wanting it.

The video in itself is nowhere near “blasphemous”. She could have easily showed a scene where she makes out with the Jesus and the Judas. The fact that she didn’t shows you that she had no intention of it being blasphemous.

Please, if you’re going to say something, back it up with at least some logical evidence. At least I wouldn’t have to write a lenghty rebuttal to make up for your failed inconsistent and hasty conclusions.

I am Lebanese. I am Christian. I am a Little Monster. I will put my paws up and won’t accept this!
Monsters everywhere, help me in my campaign to stop this silliness of banning gaga, she is more humane than any of those other people pretending to be followers of God!
Join our group on Facebook! I will fight this till the end!

I am Christian. I don’t find this song offencive because I know that Lady Gaga didn’t mean it that way. Everyone has the right to say something, and this is the way that she is doing it. If you don’t like the song don’t listen to it, but don’t ban it because Lady Gaga didn’t mean any harm.
