A friend just send me these two photos of a park meter in Verdun with instructions posted on it to pay by SMS.
Apparently you should first push the “smart” yellow button and text the machine number by SMS to 1315, then push the green button and wait for the receipt. However, there’s no option to choose your parking duration and you will be automatically billed 1,500L.L for 1 hour instead of the usual 1,000L.L, and the instructions do not mention whether the SMS is free of charge or there is any additional cost for it.
Very good, and thank you parkmeter lebanon, you’re making our life easier.

Any service Park Meter use, No matter.
At the end, it is another face of taking our money in a country which become specialized in steeling its citizen.
Who’s costing the hour or the half hour ?
Who’s paying the parking machines placed in roads ?
Who’s taking the money from it ? Only the municipality ?
Yeeeeah, mnih sar fi saffet. Idiots.
Parking meters are not too bad. Pay something and you will get a place to park. Nice option to pay with mobile phone 🙂
By the way, It seams that the new service will cost us more, because :
– Its pricing ( 1,500 LBP per hour ) is more than the regular hour fees ( 1,000 LBP, which is not fair at all )
– Then there’s the message cost ( the Park Meter company Brilliant thinker didn’t mention it ).
– At the end, there’s a very interesting point : in case the machine counter didn’t respond with the SMS for any reason including the interference cause pls. dial these numbers … or send an e-mail to …
Com’on guys, be reasonable, don’t laugh on people.
Costly service, Ironic service.
I agree you 100% Maher, This service just to steal our money, we are ok with paying 250 LL for 15 min, but not to pay 1500 for 1 hr and for sure + sms cost
I think its bad service, go to the hell will your SMS service
Today I parked aside in a Parkmeter lot at the end of the street parallel to Beydoun Mosque Ashrafieh. I wanted to go to pray so I ran to the Parkmeter machine and tried more than 10 times to enter a 2×250 Liras I even tried to go to the second parkmeter machine on the opposite road (leading to Sassine) where I found two guys struggling with the machine to put their coins in and to get the receipt with no success. It was time for prayer so I decided to let go and go to pray (around 12:50. We finished praying at 1:10 pm and I ran back to the car where I was shocked by receiving a ticket stating that I did not pay (at 12:55 ticket number 12703000742). This is really unacceptable as it is really not our fault that the machines are not working or you need atleast 30 minutes struggling to make it work, I tried to search for the guy “MDK03” who was hunting around but I could not find him. I even tried calling the so called “Customer Service” phone numbers but as usual nobody is answering. I tried to check again if both of the machines are working “Smoothly” buy trying again to put a 250 Lira coin and again it did not work. Is it fair that we pay these tickets when their machines are not working properly ?
This is a terrible service, I charged for one hour yesterday at 9 amd I have been receiving messages for the parking all night from 10.30 until 6.30
Am this morning!!!!!
In other words they charged me parking fees while I was in bed…….
Suggestion to the ParkMeter Administration to allow clients to pay by phone.
When you park you send an SMS to phone number 1315 with the Message :Car Plate number : time in minutes. eg B123214:60
Parkmeter receives the message and now knows your -phone number, your Car Plate Number, the Start Time, and the End Time and charges you accordingly. 9they can reply with SMS with the charge)
Parkmeter transfers the data to a database and makes it available to their Attendants
The Attendant, before giving you the ticket, scans (or enters) your car plate number into a web site which tells him based on the data in the database whether this car has paid by phone and/or whether the parking time has expired. If not paid or time has expired then issue the ticket.
