As if Lebanon needed more scandals and ugly incidents, this outrageous uncivilized act against a referee in a football match came to add salt to the wound. The referee did not give Al Nahda Club a penalty in the added time of the second half against Al Salam Zgharta, and the players went crazy chasing him all across the pitch. The video here doesn’t show more of the attack but it gives you an enough idea about what happened.
This country is seriously going beyond insane. A group of gunmen stormed into Tripoli’s Islamic Hospital last night and released a detainee called Mohamad Youssef, who was arrested for opening fire on minister Faisal Karami’s convoy a while ago, after beating up the police men who were guarding him.
Weirdly enough, the man was handed back to the security forces some hours later!
It’s not the first time in Lebanon a municipality issues such announcement. It happened in Bhamdoun back in August 2012 and now Botchay municipality is imposing a curfew on all foreign workers in the village.
Don’t ask how do they distinguish locals from foreign workers.
If you think restaurants that are being criticized for breaking law 174 (smoking ban) in Lebanon might be feeling a bit ashamed of what they’re doing, then you’re definitely wrong, those restaurants are actually getting ruder by the moment!
One of these restaurant is Enab in Gemmayze, who has basically never respected law 174 and always allowed its customer to smoke indoor. In response to that, IndyACT decided to use their office, which is located right next to Enab, in order to put up a huge banner calling the restaurant to abide by the law, and next thing they knew was Enab’s employees breaking into their offices to take down the banner!
Fortunately, IndyACT later got an official permit from the municipality of Beirut to put the poster up again. But I wonder what difference will it make when these restaurants already feel like they have so much power to actually break the law and get away with it while their customers are happy! It’s maybe up to the few of us to boycott them for what they’re doing.
The stories you read about Roumieh prison every once in a while can easily qualify for Hollywood movie scripts! The latest among these stories is discovering a 2 meters wide unfinished underground tunnel that can let hundreds of prisoners escape thanks to the snowstorm we got last week.
After last week’s snowstorm dubbed Olga, prison guards were shocked at the immense amounts of water flowing from the prison cells, the daily said.
A maintenance team was rushed to fix the problem as heavy rainfall lashed inside the prison from unknown sources. They found an unfinished two meters wide underground tunnel, the daily added.
