What did the Lebanese Google in 2012?

Executive-Google

Curious to know what did the Lebanese Google in 2012? Executive Magazine has all the answers here. And yes, it shows we did Google Myriam Klink a lot at certain times! May god forgive us for our sins!

Update:

Mustapha from Beirut Spring re-did the Google trends study on Lebanese divas with a small difference, he used the artists’ in Arabic instead of Latin, and found out the Arabic searches have a higher activity volume and are therefore more representative of the population. The results were surprisingly different, Fayrouz got a much higher volume of searches while Myriam Klink got absolutely nothing! Check his post here.

Beirut in 8-bit

The hoax services that Google announces on each April Fools’ day are more like a tradition, and the Google 8-bit maps service has got to be the coolest joke for 2012. They actually announced yesterday that they will finally be adding support for the classic Nintendo Entertainment System with the launch of 8-bit maps featuring low resolution graphics.

And here’s how Beirut would have looked like on a NES!

You can check here more about Google’s pranks for this year.

Google.com.lb!

No it’s not an April’s fool prank, try to go to www.google.com.lb, it really works! And it looks like the domain has been activated since February 4th 2009, as per this lookup on AUB.edu.lb.

If you have experience in registering a domain name ending with “.lb” then you probably know that in order to register your domain you must issue several official documents including a trademark file and “Iza3a tijariyya”, then present them to the American University of Beirut which acts as the registrar for the .lb top level domain.

I’m curious to know who presented these papers on behalf of Google… is it a sign they will soon be opening an office in Lebanon? (2addamna CV??? :p )
