AUB Sets a Guinness World Record By Creating The Largest Mosaic Flag

A group of students at the American University of Beirut set a Guinness world record in a project called “Share the Flag” by creating the largest notebook mosaic flag made of 60,000 notebook that were placed in the green field.

The event took place few days ago on May 9th and it took them around 24 hours to make it possible. Moreover, as a tribute to the Lebanese Army, the son of martyr Colonel Danny Harb (Rayan Harb), completed the Lebanese flag by placing the last red notebook.

The best part about the whole thing though was donating all of the notebooks that were used to create the Lebanese flag to a large number of public schools in Lebanon. It may sound insignificant to some but needful families will definitely appreciate any contribution to their kids education no matter how small it is.

Check out this time-lapse video showing how they did it.

Dalia Freyfer and Télé Liban Break The World Record for Longest Talk Show

Dalia Freyfer just broke the Guinness world record for the longest TV talk-show this morning by going live for 24 continuous hours and hosting more than 90 guests on Télé Liban.

The show started yesterday morning at 8AM and ended exactly 24 hours later today. And as it shows in the above photo, she immediately got her world record certificate .

For those who don’t know her, Dalia performs religious hymns in addition to occupying two jobs at Télé Lumière and Alfa Telecommunications. What makes her special though is that she lost her eyesight at a young age but insisted on pursuing her goals in life by obtaining a degree in psychology and attending the conservatroire.

Out of curiosity, I googled similar record breaking attempts and noticed that presenters from Ukraine and Nepal hosted 52 and 62 hour talk shows in the last few years. This is definitely not to doubt Dalia’s accomplishment since Guinness already approved it, but it would be good if Télé Liban clears out the criteria she satisfied to break the record.

Anyway, congratulations to both of Dalia Freyfer and our national TV channel!

Update:

It turned out Dalia actually got the certificate for the first 12 hours of her show in which she interviewed 43 people, but she continued for another 12 hours and interviewed even more people.

As electricity is becoming a luxury in the country, someone in Nabatiyeh thought it would be nice to light up the world’s biggest Ramadan lantern, while the town’s street lights are most probably always off due to electricity shortage!

The lantern is 18 meters high, weighs 4 tons, and took 6 months to complete.

World’s largest cup of Batrouni lemonade

After Kebbe, Tabbouleh, Hommus, and Falafel, here comes the turn for Lemonade! According to this event on Facebook, the traders association in Batroun is set on breaking Guinness world record for the largest cup of lemonade by making more than 5000 liters of lemonade!

The event will be held on July 8th starting 10AM, and the target will be to squeeze more than 2 tons of lemon by 200 people. The current record is 4593.7 liters and is held by some Chinese district.

I’m guessing it’ll be very easy to cheat with breaking this record since you can add as much water as you want to the squeezed lemonade if you end up short on liters! Anyway, I thought we’re already done with the record breaking frenzy, but it doesn’t seem so.
