Mugs I wouldn’t buy

Who comes up with such ideas?! I guess having your morning coffee in one of these mugs would be more like french kissing the politician on it!

The quest for the best burger in Lebanon – Brgr Co.

I went to Brgr Co. some time around September last summer after all the promising photos and messages I saw on their Facebook page at that time, but unfortunately I got disappointed with my overall experience.

When I arrived there, I was surprised the place had only two tables occupied while Classic Burger Joint who’s just around the corner had a pile of people waiting for their turn to go inside.

Anyway, my first disappointment was the difference I noticed between the prices on their Facebook page at that time and their actual menus in the restaurant. Both menus felt overpriced anyway (14,500L.L for the 4oz burger, and 25,500L.L for the 8oz).

I started by ordering some onion rings which tasted average and looked weird.

The major disappointment was with the 4oz burger I orderd. The patty and topping were OK, nothing super as I was promised, and the bun was very dull! I guess the least one should expect from a burger place is to offer fresh buns right? Well, check how fresh mine was.

I know a lot of people who agree with me about Brgr Co. being an average place, but I also heard a lot of people claiming it is among the best burger joints in Beirut, at least that’s what Khaled thinks, “Brgr co one of the best burgers I’ve tried in town!”. And I really trust Khaled’s taste buds since I’ve met him once, and I know what he does. So people seem to be divided about the place!

I guess the only explanation for this is that their service could just probably be inconsistent… what do you think?

Too much love?

I’ve got mixed feelings about these 2 photos from people with me in the office, some thought it’s cute, others felt it’s creepy!

What do you think?

Roadster’s gifts for Valentine

Roadster is giving away a heart shaped “Together Forever” fridge magnet along with a post card with every delivery order for valentine today!

Here’s what I just got.

It’s a nice gesture by Roadster while a lot of restaurants are abusing this day to overcharge their clients for a “romantic” dinner!

Just like a toilet that has no water

Photo via Blogging Beirut

Back in 2008 when the political tension in Lebanon was reaching its peaks, visual artist Nada Sehnaoui installed 600 toilet seats in downtown Beirut in memory of the 15-year long Lebanese war, a time when people used to hide from bombs and shrapnels in the bathrooms.

I guess the same seats can be installed once again somewhere around Beirut, and this time not deliver a message, but rather to describe the current situation in the country!

In Lebanon we have a saying that goes like “Just like a toilet that has no water” (متل الحمام المقطوعة مايتو) to describe a mess. Seriously, what’s worse than people using a toilet with no water? That’s how Lebanon feels nowadays 😉

Beyonce’s Heat ads vandalized at Dora highway

Seems like Beyonce’s new Heat perfume ads were too provocative for some people! I was on my way to work this morning when I noticed they were vandalized overnight at Dora highway. (Same as what happened to Marie France’s ads back in May)

The act is pretty weird though… there are much more other explicit ads all over the country, why did they decide to just target this one?

Anyway, it’s good no one thought of playing the video commercial of the perfume at one of the newly installed outdoor giant screens!

ABC Achrafiyeh Christmas Tree

… Yep, the same one that got Sietske into trouble when she was taking a photo of it. Fortunately no guards came to forbid me from shooting the tree though one of them saw me taking a panoramic photo using my cell phone, I believe it all depends on what gear you are using!

It’s pretty cool to see, in addition to the decoration they set up on the 3rd floor.

Arz missile – Lebanese made surface-to-surface missile!

Believe it or not, I just found out that Haigazian university and the Lebanese army have cooperated back in the 1960’s to produce a series of surface-to-surface missiles called “Arz-1”, “Arz-2”, and “Arz-3”.

It all started with a project led by Professor Manoug Manuogian at Haigazian university in 1960 resulting in a single-stage rocket that reached an altitude of 2 kilometers. The Lebanese president at that time, Fouad Chehab, decided to finance the project with 25,000 L.L, which allowed the group to build tw0-stage rockets in summer 1962, and a three-stage rocket later in November 1962. By the end of this year rockets were able to reach an altitude of 20Km!

However, the project was halted shortly after the French President Charles de Gaulle told President Chehab that the Lebanese abilities were proven in the scientific field, but the project might put Lebanon at risk if further researches are done! (WTF!!!) i.e. These missiles are a threat to Israel, and it will not remain silent towards the advancement of the Lebanese army in missile technology!

That’s actually a summary of the article I found on Wikipedia.

If we have worked on this technology back in the 1960’s, and if resistance movements in Palestine are currently using water pipes to produce the Qassam rockets, then we can definitely resume working on the project and come up with much more enhanced versions of Arz to arm the Lebanese army and make it capable of defending our land when necessary. But then again will Israel remain silent about it? This definitely leads us to the defense strategy issue that our buttheads have been discussing since 2006, Israel simply doesn’t accept Lebanon having any means of self defense, so how can we disarm Hezbollah and still be able to protect ourselves against any possible invasion..? Oh wait this isn’t a political blog! END OF POST!
