More of the storm photos from all around Lebanon

The Daily Star has some nice photos from almost all around Lebanon showing how the snow blanketed most of the Lebanese villages yesterday, in addition to photos of how bad the situation is in Hay El Sellom after Al-Ghadir flooded the whole area.

Snow in Beirut?

Well not really, these are more like graupel or snow pellets, but if we got it while “The Bride” has not reached its peak yet, then I guess we’re definitely getting much more in the next couple of days!

Interior photos of Amin Maalouf’s house

Habib Battah has some nice photos over at his blog Beirut Report showing the interior of Amin Maalouf’s house in Badaro which is currently being demolished by Kettaneh Group after getting the necessary approval from minster Gaby Layoun.

I personally have mixed over this whole thing. As much as I hate to see such old houses going, I also feel for their owners who probably can no longer maintain them and could really make use of the money after selling them to some real estate development company, regardless of how ugly the resulting tower will be, and how affordable the apartments will be to the average Lebanese.

Videos from Sting’s concert in Beirut

Check these two videos by Joe from Sting’s concert at BIEL which was part of his “Back to Bass” 2012 tour. I did not attend, but judging from the tweets I was reading I guess everyone had a blast that night!

Photos + Video from Wissam El Hassan’s funeral

Wissam El Hassan’s funeral started at the ISF headquarter in Achrafieh at around 2PM today and unfortunately ended violently as the protesters in downtown attempted to storm the Grand Serail to demand the resignation of PM Najib Mikati.

Below are some photos and a video from the funeral and the clash between the protesters and the policemen. (I found photo #9 quite funny by the way!)

Kamashtak – More naming and shaming of Lebanese drivers

Kamashtak is a new website by a group of people aiming to document the various parking violations causing traffic jams around Beirut by taking photos of the violating vehicles, tagging them on a map, and finally posting them on the website along with the violation type and the vehicle’s plate number. It’s a bit similar to Cheyef 7alak initiative by LBC Group, except that Kamashtak is limited to parking violations and is not crowd-sourced.

I don’t know how effective will this initiative be. I mean Cheyef 7alak is already quite popular but did it change a thing? Thousands of photos have been uploaded so far and we still suck ass at driving… talk about wasted efforts. Anyway if you ever see the above sticker on your car, just know that you’ve done something wrong!

Claire Danes in Beirut

So as I mentioned in a previous post, the events in the first episodes of “Homeland” take place in Beirut, but its producers decided to shoot these scenes in Tel Aviv and make it look like Beirut as shown in the above photo. Still, the result didn’t seem pretty convincing to Karl from Karl reMarks blog, and so he offered the below alternatives!

Rina Chibani Miss Lebanon 2012

Congratulations to Miss Lebanon 2012 Rina Chibani! It’s been a few years since we last got a really nice looking beauty queen. And it’s cool that there’s actually two of Rina 😛 Her twin sister Romy was also competing for the title and ended up being the first runner-up, which is kind of weird but logical at the same time…

Anyway here are some photos I managed to find of Rina Chibani.
