Inside the $27M Penthouse in Sama Beirut

Check out this video shot inside a 1,400m2 two floor penthouse apartment in Sama Beirut that is reportedly selling for a whooping $27,000,000.

Needless to say it is massively big and sports an amazing 360 degree view of Beirut, with a pond on the 1st floor and a pool on the second. Watch the video and eat your heart out! 😛

The video was by the way taken by a guy called Thor from Denmark who left his home country in 2013 to travel the world countries without flying. On December 2017 Lebanon became the country number 143 on his list and you can follow his journey here.

Bernard Khoury’s penthouse in Beirut

Bernard Khoury penthouse 1

Bernard Khoury, the Lebanese famous architect who’s known for many projects like B018, Centrale, and many other places, had his penthouse featured in The Wall Street Journal last month.

This spacious penthouse in Beirut is owned by 45-year-old Lebanese architect Bernard Khoury. He chose a home with its hodgepodge city view over the more sought-after romantic sea view. It happened by circumstance, when his friend, Marc Doumit, a developer, bought the land on Damascus Road at a low price in the late 1990s after it had been sitting deserted for nearly a decade following the end of the 15-year civil war. Mr. Khoury’s family moved in last year.

The penthouse is 400 square meters with 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a swimming pool and an awesome view over Beirut and the mountains! You can check more photos of it here.

Zaatar W Zeit Sodeco closing or renovating?

I was passing by Sodeco yesterday afternoon and noticed that Zaatar W Zeit was closed with all the exterior decoration removed.

I personally doubt they’ll be closing or moving from Sodeco and I suspect they’re renovating the place, moreover, I guess it’s related to the missing Z campaign that they recently started. especially that they mentioned nothing about closing the Sodeco branch on their Facebook page… Few days and we will all know I think.

The quest for the best burger in Lebanon – Brgr Co.

I went to Brgr Co. some time around September last summer after all the promising photos and messages I saw on their Facebook page at that time, but unfortunately I got disappointed with my overall experience.

When I arrived there, I was surprised the place had only two tables occupied while Classic Burger Joint who’s just around the corner had a pile of people waiting for their turn to go inside.

Anyway, my first disappointment was the difference I noticed between the prices on their Facebook page at that time and their actual menus in the restaurant. Both menus felt overpriced anyway (14,500L.L for the 4oz burger, and 25,500L.L for the 8oz).

I started by ordering some onion rings which tasted average and looked weird.

The major disappointment was with the 4oz burger I orderd. The patty and topping were OK, nothing super as I was promised, and the bun was very dull! I guess the least one should expect from a burger place is to offer fresh buns right? Well, check how fresh mine was.

I know a lot of people who agree with me about Brgr Co. being an average place, but I also heard a lot of people claiming it is among the best burger joints in Beirut, at least that’s what Khaled thinks, “Brgr co one of the best burgers I’ve tried in town!”. And I really trust Khaled’s taste buds since I’ve met him once, and I know what he does. So people seem to be divided about the place!

I guess the only explanation for this is that their service could just probably be inconsistent… what do you think?

New pizza joint in Beirut

Very close to Classic Burger Joint Sodeco you can spot this place that is currently under renovation with the word “PIZZA” written on the outside. According to the people at CBJ it should soon be opening as a pizza joint, having almost the same concept as CBJ and the same owner too.

I believe some people will shortly just follow and open similar joints somewhere else (Hamra?), just like every time something new is introduced in Lebanon. Anyway, let’s see how good they will be!

Freeze Sodeco! I will shoot you!

I thought of a fun idea today which is to start a new series of posts called “Freeze, I will shoot you!”. Breathe, the thing has nothing to do with the shooting we’re used to in Lebanon, the idea is to go to some area in Lebanon (where else?!) for the purpose of taking some nice photos of the place  and then publish them in a blog post here. I’ll be also open to suggestions if you have some nice place in mind.

I will start today with Sodeco, one of my favorite streets in Beirut. The reason why I originally went there was to shoot the old buildings that still have marks from the civil war on the. I leave you with the photos.

P.S: For some reason, the lightbox plugin on my blog (the image overlay thing) seems to be broken, so whenever you click on an image you will be taken to a new webpage instead of displaying it on a grey background. I promise I’ll be working on it today!
